I make videos for fun. Every time I have the opportunity to make a video for a school project, I jump at the chance. But, if I'm only using them for school projects, what's the point? I decided to make this blog so I can upload the videos I make, so teachers and kids can view them. My hope is that elementary school teachers will use them to teach, and that elementary school children will watch them, and enjoy them.
What these videos are about:
These videos will mostly be about science. But, if there is something that I find very interesting that isn't related to science, I might post it anyways.
How I make videos:
I use iMovie, on my macbook pro. So far I have been experimenting with two types of movies.
1. Whiteboard drawing
I use this one in the Osmosis and Diffusion videos. What I do is I film myself drawing, then upload it onto my computer. Next, in iMovie, I speed up the pace of the video and add my voice. This is a very simple technique that does not take very much time, but the final product does not look as polished as the next way I make videos.
2. Stop Motion Picture
I used this in the Salt-Water movie and the Photosynthesis and Respiration movie. For that, I take pictures after I move the object sightly for the position I want it. Here's an example from the Photosynthesis and Respiration movie.
As you can see, I moves the clay balls slightly every picture, so when I string them together in iMovie, it will look like they are moving. One down side is that it is very time consuming.
